The Finnish Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies is a nationwide organisation that aims to create and maintain links between Finnish scholars of the eighteenth century across local and disciplinary boundaries.
The Society promotes and coordinates research on the eighteenth century in all disciplines by organising scientific meetings, theme nights and excursions, as well as maintaining and creating contacts between scholars both in Finland and internationally. The primary purpose of the Society is to work in the academic field, but activities can also be directed towards the general public.
The Society is a bilingual registered association. The Society is a member of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies (TSV). The Society was founded on 3 April 2001, and in the same year joined the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies – Société internationale d’études du dix-huitième siècle (ISECS – SIEDS), the umbrella organisation of the national societies for eighteenth century studies.
